My team lead asked me to classify the JIRA's assigned to me. I'm new to jira and can't find any option related to classification. Can anyone help me out with this?

Hi @muppalla jayasri , I think you need to go back to your team lead and ask exactly what they mean by classify. Classify by definition loosely means to organize items into categories. Without understanding more about your environment and processes, it is hard for me to offer the solution.

With that said, there are various means of categorizing issues in Jira. Components is one field that is often used for this, but you can also use labels or even create a custom field. In summary, I would suggest understanding what the classification categories are, and discussing with your team lead what solution best makes sense, or offer a solution and get buy in.

Hi @muppalla jayasri ,

Welcome to the community !!

Assuming jira here means Tickets assigned to you, open your Jira link

  1. Go to Filters in menu bar --> View all Issues
  2. In the new window search bar, type "assignee = <yourname>" and hit search. This will give you all tickets assigned to you.
    • To refine further, i.e. to get tickets assigned to you and not resolved, use this in JQL in the search bar "assignee = <yourname> and resolution = Unresolved
  3. After the result is displayed and click "Save As" give filter a name.
  4. Now in the header menu bar--> Go to Dashboards --> Create Dashboard --> Give a name, share with required users and Click Save
  5. Again the Dashboard menu drop down, select the newly created dashboard --> Edit --> Add a new gadget
  6. On the right side bar, Add Issue Statistics
    • select filter name created in step 3 for "Project or Saved Filter:required"
    • Statistic Type =  Issue type and click Save.

This dashboard will not display Jira tickets assigned to you in a classified way.
