Hello,
We're using a company-managed project, where epics are displayed as swimlanes. Under a specific epic, tasks have been created together with their subtasks.
But for some reason, the subtasks appear under the 'Issues without Epic' swimlane instead of the dedicated epic swimlane. The statuses are all configured correctly.
We tried to remove the epic from the main issue and add it, but it didn't solve the issue.
Any suggestions?
Hi @Mateja Leskovec , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your question.
I have understood you want to obtain a view with
Epics
- Tasks
-- Subtasks
but you are seeing Subtasks in the board as 'Issues without Epics'. This is the expected behaviour as the Subtasks aren't connected directly to the Epic / have them as the Parent, as they have the Task as the Parent.
Do you have a specific use case for why you need to see this issue hierarchy? It should be possible to obtain with an app, like one of these, https://marketplace.atlassian.com/search?query=hierarchy but there would typically be a cost associated with them.
Let us have your feedback about what you are trying to do or if we can be more helpful.
Thanks
Hello Valerie, thank you for the feedback.
To shed some more light on the topic:
Our product is tracked as epic. As the product is reviewed by the Sponsors, each session's overall feedback is logged as the parent task and then split into subtasks. This allows the Product Owners to to view the statuses for each feedback point separately from the rest of the tasks related to the product.

Hello @Becky Brooks - Visor for Jira and @Valerie Knapp ,
Thank you for your answers. And to clarify: we use Kanban boards for these kind of projects.
Based on your answers, there is no immediate solution for the issue? We'd either have to take a different approach in logging issues or look at a using a plug-in?
Thank you for your help!

Hi Meteja,
As @Valerie Knapp noted, there are plug-ins that allow you to visualize issue hierarchy. It looks like you're using Kanban/Board view; many of these apps are Gantt, Table, Timeline visualizations. So, they might not all fulfill your needs and, as Valerie noted, with plug-ins, you have to typically buy them for your Jira licenses.
