Is it possible to change the name of a status for specific workflows, but not all the workflows that the status is in? We want to avoid creating new statuses because we want the IDs to match up from Jira and JiraAlign.

You can make a copy of the existing workflow for the project you're interested in then edit that inactive workflow creating the statuses with the names you desire. Finally you associate that new inactive workflow to your existing project issue types. Only the one project Will be impacted by the new statuses as the workflow will not be shared with other projects.

I think this process will create a new Status, though, won't it? Which Sidra says they want to avoid.

I don't think it is possible to change a Status name in just one workflow but keep the same underlying Status ID.

You're right, it will create a new status.  A status can have only one name, so the only way to have different names in workflows is to create a new one for the new name.
