Changing component lead to an existing user gives error "user does not exist".

I am changing an existing component's lead. The new lead exists and can do all other tasks in jira, but I get the error message "user does not exist". I can change to other users, just not this particular one.

Check if that user have the appropriate roles to view your project.

He does. Has the same as the current lead.
