I mistakenly created a project that I now want to be a Scrum project. I read the boards which said the template shouldn't matter.
However, to this Old Project, I cannot add Story Points. I have tried Enabling Global Context in the Custom Fields, but I cannot find my project there. I also have limited Project Settings. Please see attached Image 1 and Image 2. DW Test is not the name of the Old Project.
I have created a Test Project called (DW Test), which I selected to be a Scrum project. With this test, I can specifically select it to be enabled in Custom Fields. See Image 1. I also have more Project Settings for DW Test. Please see Image 3.
How do I turn my Old Project to have the same settings as my Test Project? I have looked everywhere!
Thank you for your help.
Hello,
What was the template for the first project? It looks like an independent project, which is created by a user who does not have Jira Administration permissions.
Templates could be changed between Software, Service Desk and Business. This option is available in the Details tab.
Thank you so much for trying to help.
I am the admin, and I was the one who created the project. I don't remember which template I chose though
I did click into the project details, but the options are very limited. Please see screenshot.
I really appreciate the help!
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
You can not change an independent project to another project. You can create a new project and move issues from the old project to the new one.

How do I avoid creating an independent project? Because now when I choose to create a new project, I don't see the option to create an independent project. I just want to avoid making the same mistake again in the future.
Anyway, thanks for your help. Even though it will be manual, at least I got a solution.

NM. Got my own answer. I chose the Agility template, which is the only template you can create an independent project from.
Thanks, Alexey.

That is right. You can disable the independent project feature in the global permissions.

Hi Fiona,
Looking at the screenshot it seems that the project you have created is an independent project with the Agility template. As Alexey mentioned above, you cannot change an independent project to another template.
Independent projects with Agility template are a new feature in Jira Software that is still in beta testing. The main difference is that you don't have to be an administrator to create a project and the overall structure of the project is much simplified.
You can find more information about independent projects here and about the Agility template (the only one you can currently use with independent projects) here.
