Changed email from private to business, but accidentally created new account, cannot change now

Deleted user June 5, 2020

Hi Guys,

  1. I created main account with private email address
  2. Then I wanted to change email address from private to business
  3. I made a mistake, and created accidentally new account with business email
  4. Right now, in my private account I cannot change email address to business email because I have business email assosiated to that account.

What should I do?

So you can try this - delete the business account completely. Then go to id.atlassian.com and change the email there. If you are unable to, then it means that the removal of the other account left remnants in the DB. In which case, being that you are on Cloud and you are on Free you are stuck.

Alternatively, you could move all issues from your private user to your business user (assignee, watchers, reporter, etc). But this isn't very clean.

p.s. to remove the business user...

  1. Jira settings (gear icon upper right)
  2. User management
  3. search for user
  4. ellipses, revoke access
  5. show details
  6. ellipses, remove user

Thanks @Jack Brickey

I did a twist, I added new email address, that's an alias to my business email address, eg. instead of aleksander@xyz.com, I entered aleksander+jira@xyz.com.

Next step, I deleted my business email account.
