Change time tracking measurement

Pastukhova Maryna August 27, 2018

Hey guys!
Could you, please, help me find a place where I can change time tracking measurement?

I need to track time in days/hours/minutes. In my Jira, I can choose the date only. In the admin setting, I can find the date selector, and I can't find time selector.

Does anybody know how to add this?

Thank you in advance!

Time tracking in Jira is done in days/hours/minutes, not dates.

My guess is that you are looking at a date field, not the time tracking fields (and also a field defined as just a date, not a date/time).  Possibly due date?

You're probably doing that because your Jira is not configured to use time-tracking in your project.  As an admin, you will need to amend the "issue type screens", adding the field called "time tracking" to the create and edit screens.

Thank you for your feedback!

I have set original estimation to my project's screen. But it's just a test field
Abow original estimation you can see an estimation field and I can choose a date only (it seems that somebody expected to point something like the due date)

The next thing I do, I try to change the settings of this field. But there is no option to set up a measurement (both in configure and edit field)

Maybe, all the logic I follow is totally wrong.

I tried to add time tracking to my issue type screen. But there isn't this option here.

Could you please help me point out what mistake I can do.

Thank you in advance!

You can't change the field types - your admins added a date field called "estimate", so it's always going to be a date.

On your second screenshot, you've gone into the "issue type screen scheme", but you need to be looking at the screens - go into the "screen scheme" (for each line you have in the screenshot) and then further down into the actual "screen"s

Thank you very much, Nic!

I have advanced in this issue a little bit.
I have managed to set original time estimation that counts in days/hours/minutes since I have admin access.

The following issue is how to change time estimation in existing projects. When I create a new issue, I can fill the field as I need. But I can't set up estimation to existing projects.

You need to adjust the screens for each project so that it includes the time-tracking fields.  Hopefully, they are using shared screens so you don't need ot change a lot of them.

Thank you, Nic! It seems I have managed this issue.
