Change assignee based on status

Our project tasks currently move through different statuses on Jira. As an issue status is changed from one status to another, is there any way to assign a new assignee automatically.

For example, we have a developer that completes work and changes the status of the task from in progress to UAT. However, when we change the status of the task to 'UAT', can we also make the software assign a new user associated to the UAT status? This 'default UAT assignee' will check the work.

In other words, is it possible to associate default assigne's to Jira issue statuses?
