For a few days now I cannot add users to jira anymore, I'm always getting the same error message:
"something went wrong please try again later"
it worked perfectly fine in the beginning. My rights havent changed either, so I am clueless what the reason could be. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
Hello @Cathrin Ehgartner,
Allow me to step in to explain the reason why you are facing this issue.
Checking the details of your site, I see that there are 9 users for Jira Software and 10 for Confluence.
I can see that you are a Trusted user on the site, it means that you can invite new users, but not to select what license they will receive. This can only be done by a site administrator.
With that said, when you are trying to invite the user, they are being added to both groups, but since Confluence doesn't have any available seats, it's failing with the error you mentioned.
In order to add the new user, you must talk to the site administrator, so they can invite the user only to Jira Software, or ask them to disable Confluence for new users by going to Cog icon > User management > Product access and uncheck Confluence.
Please, give it a try and let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Angélica
Dear Angélica,
thank you very much for your help. I will talk to our administrator about the suggested change.
I will let you know if it worked as soon as we tried.
Thank you,
Cathrin

Dear Angélica,
as our Admin is on holiday atm I tried to log in with his account (no worries permission was given) to do it myself. When I logged in however, I got another error message to the lines of "something went wrong, our team has been notified about it" and I cant even do anything anymore. My Projects and pretty much anything seems to be gone.
Is there any chance you guys can have a look at it, its really a bit frustrating :(
Thank you,
Cathrin

Hi Cathrin,
I see that Christian has two accounts on the site and the Gmail is the one with administrator access.
Unfortunately, there is nothing much we can do. If we create a ticket with support, we will also need Christian's authorization to add you as admin, for example.
In this case, the best option is to wait for them to be available in order to invite the user or give you admin permission.

How many Active users do you currently have setup for your instance?

It affects any user I try to add. I tried with a bunch of several people, one by one, multiple at once I always get the same error message : "something went wrong, please try again later". I get the error message since last friday now.
