Hi,
I recently worked on a demo instace to create a Jira environment for a customer. I now want to use the Data Transfer in the Admin Menu to copy Dashboards into my productive instance to save them for later use before the demo instance expires.
My problem now is that, when I select a space to transfer, it tries to copy all User data from the demo instance including all demo users and customers.
The space I selected only has my user with roles assigned, no other Users or Groups. I created a new permission scheme where only the Admin space role has permission, so no other User should have access to the space.
What really confuses me is that, on February 3rd 2026, I already did a Data transfer to copy a space over to the productive instance. When I did that, it only showed and copied over the ~12 Users that have permission in that space. However when I select the same space now, it also shows me that it will copy 132 Users, 92 Groups and 20 Teams.
I have not worked on the demo instance since, so there were no changes made from my side to the space and its permissions/configurations.
Does anyone know if Atlassian changed anything in this regard? Is it not possible anymore to limit which Users get copied and which don't? Because according to this article it should still be possible:
https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/copy-jira-data/
Thanks.
If you change your option to all Users, groups and Teams, do the numbers change?
If not, raise an issue with Atlassian Support, as there might be an issue on your instance.
Hi @Marc -Devoteam- ,
Clicking on the radio buttons doesn't change anything. Selecting different Spaces doesn't change anything either.
I opened an issue but no solution so far. If i find anything I'll update it here.
