Cannot modify system field in issue view

Dear All,

I'm Jira Admin for Data Center and Server Version of Jira 8.20 in my company.

We've that issue that we cannot modify certain system field "Component" in issue view.

The field is mapped to all relevant screens "Create" "Edit" and "View"

It is possible in Issue-View to modify all fields e.g Affected Version, Priority etc. but the pencil does not appear for the "Components" view.

There is no script running behind or something.

When you say that you cannot modify the Component field, do you mean that you cannot edit the field to change values or select values? Or do you mean that you want to add totally new values to the list of Components?

So I just want to select predfined component items - not creating new component items.

And you see the Components field, but it not letting you update it?

And you have verified that the Components field is on the Edit screen?

If yes to all of that, I would check the workflow properties for the workflow to see if any code has been placed there.
