Cannot find sub-tasks under the issue settings.
Instead I am able to view a "Create Branch" option.
All leads are appreciated.
P.S. I have signed up for Beta testing and hence am unaware if this is happening as a result of that.

I guess you do not have subtask issue type for your project. Go to project settings -> Issue Types and you will have to see at least one subtask there:
@Alexey Matveev : Thank you for the assistance. But for some reason I don't have any more options populated in my project settings apart from Details, People and Features :(
Is this got to do something with the level of access that I have to the software? FYI I am the project administrator for this project.

It means that your project is an independent project. It has limited functionality. You should create a "usual" project, but you would need the Jira Administrator permission. You can find more info here:
