Can you suggest a gadget that shows % of done work per assignee?

Armine.Karapetyan2 February 13, 2023

I have tried several gadgets on Jira dashboard for understanding % of done work per assignee, but I only come across to gadgets that show in progress tasks by assignee for a sprint.
Can you please suggest a gadget or JQL query that will show selected assignees done tasks in percentages?

Hi @Armine.Karapetyan2

I'm not completely up to date on which gadgets come with Jira out of the box, but I trust that others will jump in if such solution exists.

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I believe your use case would be quite easy to solve with the app that my team is working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including the ability to group your set of issues by any field, as well as to calculate sum-ups. With that, you can easily build a "done work per assignee" report, like so:

You can calculate sum-ups based on any field and use different sum-up styles, so I'm confident you can find the one you're looking for. The issues within a JXL sheet are defined based on a JQL statement, so you have full control over which issues should be included.

I should add that JXL doesn't currently have a dashboard gadget (although this will come soon) - but for now, many of our customers use a JXL sheet as a "de-facto dashboard" on its own.

I can only speak in detail for JXL, but there may be other apps on the Marketplace that can help with this. You may already know that you can trial any app for free for 1 month, and depending on the size of your size, it may be free forever. So if an app is an option for your, perhaps try a few and see which works best for you.

Hope this helps,

Best,

Hannes

Dear Hannes,

Thank you for your response. I believe in the near future I will have the chance to use your application, even though I found a solution on default gadgets that Atlassian suggests, but it's doesn't meet to my general requirements.

For that reason I would like to know does JXL allow to get and save statistics from previous finished sprints as well?

Thank you,
Armine

Hi @Armine.Karapetyan2,

great to hear that you like JXL!

I'd need to understand your use case a bit better for a definite answer, but I'm very confident that JXL would work for you. First: JXL is powered by JQL, so it would be easy to pull in the issues of e.g. a certain sprint. Second, JXL comes with a number of sprint-related columns that you can view in your sheet and use in e.g. issue grouping or sum-ups:

With that, many of our customers have been building sophisticated sprint reports in JXL, and I'm sure you'd get a lot of value out of it, too!

Any questions or comments, now or in the future, just let us know!

Best,

Hannes
