I am working with a colleague who is the JIRA admin for our project. Finding out that I am not able to make logic updates while they were on holiday for 2 weeks was not ideal. Is it possible to have the same JIRA Admin access that they have so I can make necessary changes and amendments just as they would? I have looked at this ( How do Jira permissions work? | Jira Software Cloud | Atlassian Support ). Is it as simple as raising a ticket to SLDC and asking for JIRA Admin rights?

I have no idea how your company is managing its Atlassian tools and your process for change requests, but granting any user administrative rights in Jira is done within a few clicks. That won't be the issue. But who do you have to talk to or raise the topic? Only you know. I can also imagine that your IT will hesitate to give you global administrative rights for making changes that can impact the whole instance. Because depending on how the projects are set up and maybe share configurations with others, you can't be "just" an administrator for one project and make changes as you like. I suggest finding out about your internal process and contacting the right people. :)

Thanks for this Max. Appreciate the reply. I am already in contact with the people who grant the access. I just wanted to understand if there were any limitations for it to be done in JIRA.

No, there's no limitation per se. But depending on the changes you want to perform it can be enough to be a project administrator with extended project administration privileges. It's more likely that you need to be a global administrator and the global permissions is assigned to user groups. So you will need to be a part of that. That's all there is to it. So there is no difference in the user license or a limit of the possible admin users. :)
