Can you copy an existing type, including screens and workflows used?

Hey folks,

I have an existing 'Change Request' JIRA issue type, which has it's own fields, screen, schema config and all those sorts of good things. I need to copy it all to create a new Change issue type for use in our PCI env, which has different requirements for change. The copy will be able to use a lot of the fields and workflow config from the source, but will need to be independent as there will be significant changes made to it.

What's the best approach to this? I started off by looking at creating a new issue type, but I've realised that the configuration of these things in JIRA is quite complex, and I'd like to avoid having to create all this again from scratch.

Any help or general words of encouragement from the community appreciated!

You can not do it out of the box. There is a ticket about it in Atlassian:
