Can we have 1 single scrum board for both the stories and bugs and move them along diff columns?

Good day Guys,

Could we have 1 single scrum board for both stories and bugs and move them along diff columns?

Problem is that I have different workflow for Stories and bugs and my scrum board columns are mapped against Story.. Now when I move a bug to active sprint, and the status of that bug changes, it can't find the corresponding column and get removed from current sprint.

I wanted to see both stories and bugs progressing along the way from left to right on the scrum board. Is this possible?

 Yes you can certainly do that. It might look a little weird as you have columns that leap frog. The only thing you need to be sure of is that the done for both bug and stories end up in the far right column so map both statuses to that column.

Well Jack, thanks for the reply. I dont think I understood the solution here.. I have column names sames as User story workflow... Elab, Ready for Dev, Ready for test, QA in progress, Sign off and done.

Bug has a diff workflow altogether -> New , open, Assigned, Fixed, Test, close.

How do I map these bugs statuses to column/userstory workflow?

You create whatever columns you want and you map the statuses into those columns. For example you could have a column per status if you liked so in you’re case 11 columns (map done and close in the last column). Or you could combine say Elab with New, ready for dev with open, etc. the columns are just containers to display issues by statuses.

1 more quick one Jack.. Do you know how to re-arrange the JIRA fields so I can see a symmetric view of the fields ? Like currently I have 8 fields ( eg: Type, Priority, Affect version, components, and so on...)  on the left side and only 3 fields (Status, Resolution and Fix Version) on the right? .. I want to move some fields to the right so that I can see equal number of fields on both left and right?
