Can we decrease the length of text field?

Can we decrease the length of text field?

I try to decrease the single line text field dimensions but it is not working. could you guide me how can i do that.

If the UI in cloud doesn't allow that you can't. On server you would need to go into the source code (NOT RECOMMENDED) and change it there. EVERY single line text field will be changed.
