Can we configure/enable Story Points field in Spike Issue type?

We want to enable Story point fields in Spike Issue type, as a JIRA system admin can i configure this field?

Hi @Peenal_Gupta

You can do this via the custom field's configuration. To do this:

  1. Go to Jira Admin > Issues > Custom Fields
  2. Locate the "Story Points" field, open Actions and press Configure
  3. You can either press "Edit Configuration" to customise the default across all projects - or press "Add new context" to apply it to a selection
  4. Select (extra) issue types for which types should utilise this field - to select multiples, you can hold Ctrl + Click
  5. If you're building a new context, select which projects to apply this to the same way
  6. Press Add or Modify

^ Once complete, you might also want to go into Issues > Screens and ensure that the screens for Spikes include the field also. If you're unsure on which screens apply to the Spikes:

  1. Go to Issues > Issue Type Screen Schemes
  2. Locate the scheme appropriate for your project(s) and click into it
  3. Locate the screen scheme applied to Spikes and select it
  4. Look at the screens applicable to each issue operation

I suppose, you can configure. I did the same in my system

Added to the screen and added Spike to field's context
