Hi everyone,
I manage multiple projects in Jira and run Sprints in Software project. The team members part of Sprint also have some tasks in another project that they want to track in sprint. The tasks are loosely related to some items in Sprint and hence the need.
Is it possible to include tasks from different projects into a Sprint run in a project ?
If not could you provide alternate suggestions ?
Thanks
Sirish
Hello @Sirish Minapalli
Can you include? - Yes. By modifying your board filter.
Should you include? - Strong inclination towards no.
Apart from it not being correct way to do things, as in, task is some where else, you want that in your sprint... other logistical problem is...
Sprint is not tied to any board or project. When a sprint is assigned to an issue, and issue is present in multiple boards, all boards will have that Sprint.
So if you modify you board filter, get that issue to show up in your board and assign it to a sprint, that sprint will also show up in the other board.
Long story, you dont want this experience.
thank Kalyan. So that theory works with boards inside a project.. all boards issue can be in a sprint under the project. however, my ask is if i have issues in different projects can i place them in same sprint.

It does not matter, your board query filter can pull issues from multiple projects.
So as said, in theory, your board can show these tasks from a different project, but once an issue is in a sprint, (yours or theirs), that sprint carries over to all boards..
You can try it by changing your board query, including a task which is already in sprint and see how your board now has a sprint of the other team..
Please review below link for example..

Awesome !!! This worked Kalyan. Thank you !! JQL queries and adding that to the project as the main filter did the trick.
