Can't validate work log not empty in task workflow

Clover Yang November 16, 2025

Hi,

I tried to add a "validator " to validate work log can't be empty when the task is updated to status "Done", but I can't find and select "Work log" or "Time spent" field in the "For filed" section.20251117-114034.jpeg

Hi @Clover Yang

Thanks for the question.

Did you try to write Time Spent there?
I tried, and the field is being displayed.

Dear Greyan,

Yes I did, but there is no Time Spent field from my side, which really confuse me. Is your project a team-managed project or company-managed project?20251117-142556.jpeg

Hi @Clover Yang ,

You Have to Write Exact word Time Spent in the box then only it will displayed.

Best Regards,

Vishnu Vardhan.

Hi Vardhan,

I tried to search by word "Time Spent" or "Time Tracking", but still not displayed.

Is there any configuration missed for this field? I checked and I did added it [Time Tracking] field configuration, so don't know why still can't find it.20251117-180316.jpeg

@Clover Yang

Mine is Company company-managed project.

Did you try to write the full name?

Time Spent

Clover Yang November 17, 2025

@Gor Greyan Hi. Yes I did, but still fail. Mine is team-managed project, so I am not sure whether it is due to the project type.

Hi @Clover Yang

No, the Time Spent field is not visible in the Field Configurations. You can find it in the Workflow Validators.

Path:
Space/Project Settings → Workflows → select your workflow and click Edit Workflow → select the transition → Add ruleValidate detailsValidate a field.

Under Validate that field, select Isn't empty, and then under For field(s), choose Time Spent.
Select (check) your field, write the error message, and click Add. After adding the validator, click Update to save the workflow.

Dear @Clover Yang

I did research and found out that for team-managed projects, it is impossible to set a validator for the Worklog.

See this article, where a workaround is being suggested.
