Can't select parent issue from specific project

Linas Galvanauskas March 3, 2025

I have created company-manage project (jira - business project).

When I create the issue I can't select any issue from the same project. I can select only issues from the other projects.

I can't understand what I'm doing wrong.

Thank you for any help

Hi @Linas Galvanauskas , welcome to the community.

What do you mean by select an issue? What exactly are you trying to do? Maybe providing a screenshot of where you're at and what you were trying to accomplish would help

I mean I can't select Parent issue.

I have several issues in the project

But when I try to create a new one, I can't find any issues from the same project in the Parent selectbox.

I just see the issues from other projects

Hi @Linas Galvanauskas , a parent of a "Task" must be an "Epic". In the screenshot that shows net-1, net-2, net-3, I suspect the are task-level issues. You cannot make a task be a parent of another task. You should create an Epic work item if you want it to be a parent of the tasks. I hope that makes sense.

Epic > Task/Story > Sub-task

Thank for the explanation. I have always believed that a Story is a level above a Task.
