Can't remove "board" element from backlog

I just enabled the backlog feature and I am project admin. The backlog board shows the backlog and the main project board in two different elements (screenshot attached). How can I remove the "Board" section from the backlog?

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Based on your screen image I believe you are working with a Team Managed project. You can confirm that by looking for the text at the bottom of the navigation panel on the left where it should say "team-managed".

With a Kanban board Backlog screen there will always be two sections to the list. The upper section reflects issue that have been moved from the Backlog list to appear on the Board view. In a Team Managed project in order to place an issue into the Board view you have to move the card on the Backlog screen from the Backlog list section to the Board list section.

You cannot remove that upper list section from the Backlog screen.
