Can't find bulk operations in GUI

Dan Hellum November 6, 2020

I have been trying to follow the instructions at: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracoreserver073/editing-multiple-issues-at-the-same-time-861257342.html to do a bulk issue move from one project to another, but I do not see the operations in the GUI.  It says to go to Tools > Bulk Change, but I don't see a Tools menu option anywhere.  I am able to move individual issues, one at a time, using the Move option directly from the ticket.

I have been given Administrator privileges so not sure it is a permissions issue.

Hi @Dan Hellum  -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

To do bulk operations, you create a filter and then process the changes:

  • Filters > Advanced Issue Search
  • Create your filter for the issues you wish to change
  • Optional: if you need to refer to this search again, consider saving your filter
  • At the top right, under the ... select Bulk Change
  • Follow the instructions, including what/how to change, and whether or not to send email notifications for the changes

Best regards,

Bill

Hi @Dan Hellum

Thanks for the image, and... when replying please try to stick to the one thread.  That makes it easier for the community to see when there are different answers to a question.

It appears that you do not have the Bulk Change permission. Please look over this documentation about how to check if you have that permission.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/manage-project-permissions/

Ooops...  Bulk Change is a global, not a project permission.  This is the one you need:

Thanks, it was a permission thing.  It is working now.  Sorry, accidentally pasted to wrong window, didn't mean to create a new thread.

Here it is.  I got to this through the Advanced Search link:

You can reach that option through the menu that appears from search results page.  As Bill stated, it's in the "..." menu in the top right corner of the screen.

Thanks Chris and Bill.  I have tried that, but when I go to the "..." menu in the top-right corner the only option I see is "Clear sorts".

Dan, would you please post an image of your view?

Sometimes, you need to select Advanced Search to see the Bulk Change option.
