Can't add 'test' issue type

Shiri Reich October 22, 2020

We are using a next-gen project type.
Trying to add a "test" issue type but we're unable to do so (just doesn't exist)
I went to project settings > issue type: no "test" issue type there
On the other hand i tried to associate the default issue scheme to the project, however the specific project doesn't appear there (meaning it's already associated with this scheme).
Please, anyone had this issue? not sure what to do and I don't want to start a new project.

Thanks,
Shiri

Hi @Shiri Reich

Welcome to the Community!

I've just doane this using the following steps.  Navigate to Project Settings > Issue Types

Then click on 'Add issue type'.  The box that appears gives suggested issue types, but if you look to the bottom left, there is 'create issue type'.  You can use this to add your 'test' type.

Hope that helps,

Thanks for the response Liam, however it doesn't solve the issue.

The Test type im talking about had many fields that do not exist in "create issue type" options.
As we used this specific Test issue type in previous projects, we'd like to use the same type.

Any other ideas?

Best,

Shiri

Is the test an issue type or a request type?

Also, have you used it in Next Gen before or just Classic?

Shiri Reich October 26, 2020

@Liam Green Thanks Liam

1. Test as an issue type (attaching screenshot)

2. We're using next gen

Thanks,

shiri

Hi @Shiri Reich

If it is a next-gen project then you will not be able to use an issue type from another project.

Regards, Liam

Thank would make perfect sense if the other project was not next gen - but it is.

This is our current project (with no test issue type):

This is the old project (with test issue type):

Awaiting your response.

Hi

So issue types aren't available to all next gen projects just because they have been added to one.

If you want to recreate your test issue types in the other next gen project you would need to recreate them from scratch.

If you want to replicate settings over a number of projects you would be better using a classic project.

Thanks for your help Liam.

I must say - this doesn't make any sense.. i expected to find the same issue types in the same kind of project...

Thanks anyway :)

I fully agree Shiri - the implementation of next gen features is patchy at best, which is the main reason we don't use them.

Keep an eye on the Atlassian updates - they're regularly bringing out features so hopefully they will bring out the ones you need.
