Can't Sync JIRA 7.2.3 with Trello

Richard McLester November 27, 2017

We have JIRA 7.2.3 and Add-on Trello Connector for Jira Server installed.

We have also enabled the JIRA Power-Up in Trello.

Regardless of the URL that we enter into Trello, we get the error "Not a valid JIRA URL".

We can't find any documentation online about this.

Can anyone provide an example of a correct URL?

Or additional configuration that we've missed?

Thanks,

Richard

Rich here from the Trello team. Looks like we had an issue with the power-up service validating the Jira server. I've fixed the issue and deployed the fix. Sorry about that. No need to re-install the app/addon inside Jira... just go to your Trello board then try to the integration setup again.

I'am having the same problem today.

On Jira side we have installed de Trello Connector for Jira Server, but it seems the problem is on Trello power-up when validating Jira URL.

Any commitment date for solving it??

Tnx

Similar problem here since 3 days ago.

Using v7.3.7. I've tried different local Jira servers (availables from Internet), http, https, port 8080, 80, 8443 ... Nothing seems to work.

Authorize popup keeps saying: "The Jira Server you specified requires the Trello Connector for Jira Server to be installed"

And the addon is installed of course (I trried manual install and from Marketplace).

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

We've found the issue. Would those of you having issues with the integration please contact our team via https://trello.com/contact. Unfortunately, there's a manual step to resetting the integration for your Jira Server. Sorry for the inconvenience. When you fill in the contact form, please specify in your message that the issue should be routed to me.

"The Jira Server you specified requires the Trello Connector for Jira Server to be installed. Please ask your Jira administrator to install this app in Jira. Once it is installed, you can come back here to complete the connection."

Hey everyone,

It seems like this post is very popular for folks with problems connecting their Jira Server instance with the Trello Power-Up. If you're looking at this post in 2021, please try these 2 things:

  1. Make sure your baseURL's match.
    1. Go to "<your-jira-url>/rest/api/3/serverInfo". Depending on your server version, you may need to replace the "3" with a "2" or "1".
    2. E.g. "jirehlo.jira.server.com/rest/api/3/serverInfo" or "jirehlo.jira.server.com:8080/rest/api/3/serverInfo"
    3. You should receive a JSON response, with one field being "baseURL".
    4. Now in your instance's settings, make sure the Base Url there is the same. Go to  Jira Settings > System > General Configuration > Base URL.
    5. Finally, make sure the URL you input in the Trello Jira Power-Up is exactly the same. Your URL may have a port at the end (e.g. 8080), make sure that is included in the input if its included in your base url. If it's not included in the base url, do not include it in the input.
  2. Try completely uninstalling and reinstalling the Trello Connector on your instance.
    1. Re-installing over the existing installation won't fix the issue.

    2. Once you've done that, you should see an entry for "Trello" in your Application Links (Jira Settings > Products > Integrations > Application Links). If you see an entry for Trello in there, you should be able to now register your Jira Server inside Trello.

Hope that helps. Please feel free to reach out in trello.com/contact if you need any help.

Thanks for your quick reply. So does the Server version not work then?

You're right, overlooked that. I assume you have that app installed? It also sounds like this may be a bug in Trello URL parsing right now. Are you putting in the URL with HTTPS?

Yes we've got the app installed, and I've tried both with and without HTTPS with a variety of URLs including base JIRA URL and project/board specific URLs.

So far no joy...

Thank you for the heads up.  I ran into some trouble linking Trello with my Jira page.  From within Trello, I needed to click the little connect Jira button and the URL that I pasted in included the HTTPS all the way up until the .net

The /jira/ wasn't included and Trello seemed to connect to it just fine.  As of today everything worked exactly as needed after that.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
