Can not show different projects in a Kanban Board?

Jennie Sparr December 14, 2023

Hi, So I created a Board in a new software project to be able to show tasks from different projects there. I know it must be company managed and it is. Several service management projects and one software projects and I have read that it is suppose to work but it does not.
The software projects is team managed though. Is that why it's task does not show?
The project is included in the filter query and the tasks are included in the search and show up there but does not show up on the board.

Hi @Jennie Sparr

The Board has an underlying filter and can be placed either under a company-managed project or your personal account in Jira.

So you must first create a JQL filter which includes the issues that are you trying to visualize and then create a board.

The filter can include any type of project you have in the Jira instance. Also, note that the filter should have the permission of whoever needs to see the issue in the board that you are sharing.

Thanks,
Pramodh

Thank you for taking the time to answer me @Pramodh M  :)

Do I have to create the filter first you mean?

I had already created the board and then chose a new project for it and while creating the board I created the filter by choosing what to be included.
But I have edited the JQL filter a few times just to see what is found in the search with it and all is included. The team managed software project just does not show up in the board, only in the JQL filter search. And I have permissions....I am admin in our Jira instance.

I really do not get why I do not see the tasks of the only software project in the board. Only the service management ones.

I used this tutorial and she says it is important that the project the board is in is a company managed one.

@Jennie Sparr

To validate the filter, you could search the issues with the JQL you have created and see if the issues from expected projects are coming up!

Considering the filter is correct, you may have to look at the Board Column ton Status mapping as well in the Board administration.

Can yo check this as well?

It was the column status. Thank you so much!
Some was not added to the columns.

I am sooo grateful :)
There were different ones called the same but not all were added. Thank you!

Hello @Jennie Sparr

Have you checked the mapping of Statuses to Columns in the board configuration and ensured that all statuses are mapped to columns?

If that doesn't address your issue, can you provide a screen image of the board, and of an issue from the filter results that you think should show on the board but does not?

Can you provide a screen image of the board configuration Columns page showing us the mapping of statuses to columns?

There were different ones called the same but not all were added.

That happens when you have Team Managed projects included. Though the status names are identical, in the database they each actually have a unique numeric identifier. Because of that they show up separately in the board Columns page.
