Can i track time in a Jira Product Discovery Project?

I would like to setup a way to track how much time a ticket has been in a status / Custom Field (i am calling "Second Status" for now)

So an example of this would be a ticket is in Triage or Requirements Gathering

I have a second status of To-Do, In Progress, Completed

I want to track the amount of time a ticket has been in a Second Status

This status will change when they move the ticket from column to column and record this information in a field

This data should then be available to export and allow me to report on how much time is being spent by each individual in each sub status

Anyone got any ideas if tracking time in Product Discovery projects is a thing or possible?

Hi @Jack Young

Yes, this is definitely possible. Since you are using a custom field ("Second Status") to track this parallel workflow, standard status reports won't catch it, but a marketplace app can.

Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira is perfect for this use case. It features a specialized report called "Any Field Duration" designed exactly for this:

Tracks Custom Fields: It calculates exactly how long a specific field (like your "Second Status" dropdown) held each value (e.g., To-Do, In Progress, Completed).

No Config Needed: It reads the field's history directly, so you don't need to change your main workflow.

Export Ready: You can easily export this data to Excel or CSV to report on time spent by each individual in each sub-status.

Note: Timepiece is fully compatible with Jira Product Discovery projects, so it will work seamlessly with your current tickets without any extra setup.

To learn more, you can visit Timepiece’s Atlassian Marketplace page.
