Is there any way that a "Customer" can extract a report of their tickets so as to do their own analysis or is that sort of thing only available to "Admin" access.

Users can search for issues in JIRA - https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver/searching-for-issues-939938681.html
Users could also use the gadgets available in https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver/gadgets-for-jira-applications-939939037.html to put some reports in the jira dashboards
+ Jira issues export to excel is possible and could manipulate the data outside jira and create custom reports on the data

Where do find "Gadgets"? I have searched under Project settings cannot find it.
