Can a single Bitbucket Cloud workspace be connected to two different Jira Cloud instances?

Hello everyone,

I'm facing a situation that I haven't been able to find any documentation about.

Our implementation partner already has their Bitbucket Cloud workspace connected to their own Jira Cloud instance.

At the same time, we have our own Jira Cloud instance, and we would like to integrate it with the same Bitbucket workspace so that we can benefit from the Jira/Bitbucket integration (development panel, commits, branches, pull requests, etc.).

My questions are:

  • Is it possible to connect a single Bitbucket Cloud workspace to two different Jira Cloud instances?

  • If so, what is the recommended procedure?

  • Are there any limitations or prerequisites that we should be aware of?

I couldn't find any official Atlassian documentation covering this specific scenario.

Has anyone already implemented this setup or knows whether it is supported?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @nboulehrouz,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Yes you can integrate a single Bitbucket workspace with multiple Jira instances, have a look at this KB on how to do it, https://support.atlassian.com/bitbucket-cloud/kb/how-to-integrate-multiple-bitbucket-cloud-instances-with-jira-cloud/

Hi @Mikael Sandberg Mikael,

Thank you for your reply and for sharing the knowledge base article.

Do I need to have administrator permissions on both the Jira instance and the Bitbucket workspace to complete this setup?

I followed the procedure described in the article, but I'm getting the attached error message (see screenshot).

I'm a Jira administrator on our Jira Cloud instance, but I'm not an administrator of the Bitbucket workspace. I'm wondering if that's the reason for the error.

Thanks again for your help!

Yes, you need admin permissions on both instances in order to link them.
