Can a user **archive an issue** in a **company-managed project** if they have the **"Archive Issues"** permission but **do not** have the **"Browse Projects"** permission?

If the user does not have permission to view issues in the project, would they still be able to archive them? Looking forward to insights or any relevant documentation references.

Hi @TechSangam

In Jira, the “Browse Projects” permission is essential for a user to view and access project details and its issues. This permission serves as the foundation for other, more specific permissions, such as “Archive Issues”.

If a user has the “Archive Issues” permission but does not have the “Browse Projects” permission, they will not be able to access the project or its issues, preventing them from performing actions like archiving. In other words, without the ability to browse or view the project, the user cannot interact with its issues, including archiving them.

Therefore, for a user to archive issues in a company-managed project, they must have both permissions: “Browse Projects” and “Archive Issues”.

For more information on Jira permissions and how they interact, you can check Atlassian’s official guide: Atlassian Users and permissions Doc
