Hello,
we tried migrating a project of ours to the cloud using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant.
It worked quite well, but the only thing we're missing now is the fact that the commits from our project on the Gitlab server are not shown on the cloud anymore.
Is it possible to migrate the commits of our projects all along or is this only supported with Bitbucket based repos?
Hi @t.heim welcome to the community. Have you created an integration between your Jira Cloud and GitLab since the migration? Once setup it should align.
Hi Craig,
yes, sure, the integration is running fine with commits since the migration, but we miss the historical data from our project, means, the commits we had in the past before migrating; these are not shown in Jira and my question is about them..
Are we missing a step there?
Current situation: The Jira Server project is currently linked with Bitbucket Server (both on premise)
Target: The Jira Cloud project shall be linked with our Gitlab server on premise (source code is to be kept on-site) - how to keep the commit history in Jira Cloud?

Hi @t.heim are you planning on migrating the version control system with commit history from BitBucket to GitLab? If that's the case then once you have Jira Cloud integrated to GitLab it should pick up the commit history and bring that in.

Once you have it integrated it does pick up fine - this issue is all of the historical commits and not being able to see the tracking of those issues. It seems that Atlassian doesn't want to address this - I'm left to assume it is a shortcoming. I would have expected there to be a tool to pull the history / sync the two but don't see anything like that. The only thing I see is an import but it looks it won't do the job either...
If anyone know differently, please share!
