Can JIRA project filters be archived from drop down list?

Helen Pippard December 9, 2020

Dear community

I have been using JIRA software for only a couple of months now and have discovered JIRA filters....and have gone a bit crazy with them

Throughout the length of our current project I estimate that I will need to create at least 150 filters.....Some of which will become irrelevant to choose from the drop down list but must remain active in order for the reports/dashboards to work

Is there any options available where I can restrict the amount of filters to be selected from in the drop down when creating/updating a gadget whilst still ensuring that the reports/dashboards are still able to be read?

Kind Regards

Helen

Hi @Helen Pippard

I suspect you will not be able to do that with out-of-the-box Jira.

Have you considered naming your filters to help your organizational methods?  Then the type-ahead/search for filters in many gadgets will reduce the noise. For example, "DASH filter to...", "MONTHLY filter to...", etc.

It can also help to de-select favorite from your infrequently accessed filters.

Best regards,

Bill
