Can I upgrade from 7.1 directly to 8.0 and is there an upgrade guide?

Hi @James Neal 

Nothing in Atlassian’s documentation says otherwise but they always recommend upgrading from the latest minor release of their previous major version. Why? This version tends to already have most of the same design behind the next major version and the change should not be too much.

If you must then try this on a test instance before attempting on your production server.
