Can I show JiraJSM and JPD in the navigation only for certain groups and hide it for everyone else?

Udo Marx October 2, 2025

We use JIRA only internally, we don't want others to see Jira in the Navigation, (they ask to use it)
is there a way to show it only for certain usergroups?

Hi @Udo Marx

As far as I know, Jira Cloud doesn’t natively support hiding Jira Software, JSM, or JPD from the top navigation bar based on user groups. If a user has product access, they’ll see it in the nav, even if they don’t use it.

What you can do natively:

  • Restrict product access: Go to admin.atlassian.com → Products → Access and assign Jira Software, JSM, or JPD only to specific groups. Users without access won’t see the product at all.
  • Limit project visibility: Use permission schemes to ensure users only see projects they’re allowed to browse.
  • Set JPD projects to private: Only contributors explicitly added will see them.
  • Restrict JSM portals: Set customer permissions to “Restricted” so only invited users see the portal.

If you want to hide the navigation bar items per group there is only a 3rd party app that works in the Cloud

I haven’t used it though

Hope this helps!
