Can I move a project completely from one JIRA instance to another?

Deleted user January 30, 2019

Within the same company with two JIRA accounts. One account will be cancelled. Therefore I would like to move one project completely to the other account, which will continue to exist.

Hi @[deleted]

Are you on JIRA server or cloud?

if the former, you must do the following

  • make sure both server versions are the same.
  • ensure all add-on source jira server are on the target server (Must be same version)
  • use either configuration manger for jira or project configurator manager to migrate settings of the project from source to target
  • take backup of source and perform project import with it to the target instance.
  • the add-on configuration manager for jira has a function to do the above steps in 1 shot but I have less success with this method.

if cloud, ypu need to first backup both servers, migrate them to a Jira BTF server and perform the steps listed above to merge dource to target.

You then take a backup of target and restore it to target cloud.
