for many reason.
I decided to make a JIRA server on a VMware guest.
but, I have a question about install steps.
there is needing the server ID to get a licence.
I guess that the VMware guests have each ID for a licence.
because that reasons.
the JIRA server with VMware is moved into another new server on it.
do new JIRA server still run on new VMware guest envireonment ?
hum..
Is it Illegality for multiple JIRA server with one licence?
if I can not use multiple JIRA server. Can I use just one server by moving around VMware environments?
when I move JIRA server to another. how can I get a license for new server?
It is illegal to have multiple JIRA servers with one license. But if you move around your JIRA data, the server ID wouldn't change. It is similar to chaging an operating system or moving to a new server.
I don't understand why you need to keep moving the VM but whatever be the reason, have a look at http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Migrating+JIRA+to+Another+Server
there are 2 times moving the development server.
one reason, I need JIRA server right now. but I have no computer for a server.
for financial reason of my team. my team will buy a real server next 2 months after.
another reason, my customer want to get whole development resource during my project time.
my customer will buy a new server for his own purpose when after project ended.
all the reason above.
I want to build a JIRA server in just one time on VMware.
