I recently created a project on my Jira site, and have added 2 new label fields in all the issue type. I want to show those fields in the card layout, in my sprint boards, or as a filter in the backlogs tab. But, I am unable to find "board settings". Seems like only board administrator can view and change settings. I am not a board administrator but I'm the one who created the site, project, and all the tasks. I am unable to change my role as Board administrator. Is there any way I can join as a board administrator or any other way to customize the layout of cards on my boards? Thanks
Hi Ayush, welcome to the Community. I suspect, but not sure, that you are using a Next-gen project rather than a Classic project. Board settings does not exist for NG and you cannot customize the cards. If you look to the bottom left it will say Next-gen if that is what you are using. Feel free to share a screenshot if you need further assistance.
Thanks for such a quick reply Jack. Yes, it says next-gen. What is a Classic Project and how can I create it? WIll I have to make a new project?

You need to have the necessary permissions to create a Classic project. If you created the instance then you will. Go to Project > View all projects then click on Create Project in the upper right (drop down) and choose Classic project. Then chose which template you want, etc.

I found it. I'll have to create a new project. We are a B2B startup with 20+ clients which constantly need changes in our whitelabel SaaS platform. What would you suggest us to use, Classic or Next-gen, if you can tell me some differences between both? Thanks!

you might find a lot of info in the Community and in Atlassian documentation. Here is one article that is a good intro to NG. I generally don't use NG much though I will say it has come a long way and is pretty slick and much simpler to administer. However, with simplicity comes restrictions. Classic is very customizable. You can create very powerful workflows w/ conditions, validators and post functions. NG has a couple of basic rules that can be setup when an issue transitioned. However, with Automation you can handle many tasks in NG that isn't available in the workflow.

Hello,
As Ayush was, I'm new to Jira and I'm looking for the way of customizing cards. I am not able to create Classic as stated in this thread, even if I'm an admin.
How can I customize cards today?
Thanks,
