Can I automatically update case status based on component when it is created?

Hi, 

Can I create a trigger/post-function or similar that whenever a case is added to our Jira Project it should not go to our initial state "backlog" if a specific component has been chosen for that case?

i.e When a case is created and the component = "Value stream request" update case status from "Backlog" to "Ready for development"
