Can I add a custom field to the users in our Jira workspace?

I need a way to discretely store each user's daily rate.  I have tried looking up if this is possible and haven't found any useful information so far.

I am creating a Jira app using data from the JIRA API and also the Tempo Planner/Timesheets APIs.  I would like to retrieve users' daily rates via one of these REST APIs if possible.

Any advice on the feasibility of this or recommendations on alternative approaches or useful marketplace apps would be greatly appreciated please.

Out of the box you can't add anything to the user profile. I would look for a plugin, but being in the cloud your options will be limited.
