Bulk Edit Error

Jessica Pantle November 14, 2025

Hello!

I am attempting to change the status of 15 tickets - but when I try to, I get the following error.

Screenshot 2025-11-14 123604.png

Has anyone else seen this? I have waited a day before trying again, and I am still getting the same error.  I have been able to do bulk edits in the past, but don't seem to be able to now.

Thank you!

Hello @Jessica Pantle

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Can you provide the steps you are executing? Bulk changes can be initiated from different locations such as Filters > Search Work Items, and from the All Work tab within a specific project.

At what point in the process are you getting this error?

Hello!

I am attempting this from "Filters". I select the work items I want, and then attempt to update the status.

Can you list the steps explicitly, please? i.e.

1. Navigate to Filters > Search work items

2. Create a filter to select issues.

3. Click the ... button and select Bulk change work items.

4. ...

And indicate at what point the error message is shown.

Hello Trudy!

I follow the steps you've outlined above - and I see the error when I select "Change Status".

Thank you for that additional information.

I have tried that method and I do not get the error.

Your steps don't match the steps I outlined in my previous response. Instead of my Step 3, you are selecting issue which brings up the context menu at the bottom of the screen. My step 3 is this:

Do you see that option?

If you do not, then the root problem may be that you do not have the global Make Bulk Changes permission. In that case that would need to be corrected by your Jira Administrators.

Ah! I see the difference now.

When I go to "Bulk Change Work Items" I have the option to use the new experience, and then I see the options I referenced earlier.

I was able to move the status using the steps you provided.  Thank you!

Hi @Jessica Pantle

Welcome to the community!

I have never seen this error message before. Did you try clearing your cache and retrying with a fresh browser?

I have! My coworkers are also experiencing this.
