Hello everyone! New Jira user here. Im looking at templates to get my project started, and curious as to which one would best fit my needs.
We are launching a piece of software in six months. In addition to the development team, we have a marketing team, and a sales team. I am looking to start a Project Management system from scratch, that can outline our roadmap from start to launch, give tasks to each of those teams, and track our progress.
From what I can tell, there are two setup templates that would work, but I am not sure which one would fit my needs better:
Classic Jira - Project Management template
Next Gen Jira - Software Project template
Thanks!

Hi Rob - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Most of the answer for me relies on how much (or any) customization you want to do. If you just need things out of the box with few if any changes, then Next-gen is the easiest to get you up and running and above to administer.
But if you need any customization at all - like workflow changes, advanced permissions, advanced screens, shared templates with other projects, etc. then Classic is the way to go.
We do a LOT of shared configurations and lots of customization so I exclusively use Classic Software projects.
Also, you cannot create a new Next-gen project based on an existing Next-gen project - it has to be created from scratch each time. Classic Software projects can be created based on existing other Classic projects.
I hope that helps a little.
