Board Details

Holly Clawson September 8, 2025

Hi

How can I show a 'tag' on the front tile.

I added a new tag 'next contact' and I would like this to show on the front tile. This way I can ignore until that date.

Others shows e.g. 'Due date' and 'labels' but I can't find a way to get my new tag to show ?

Hi @Holly Clawson

You need to add your field to the Card Layout from Board settings:

I don't have a field with the same name, but where I'm looking at target dates find your field and choose Save

Then click on the left arrow by board settings at the top left and you should see your field on the tiles

Hello @Holly Clawson

What type of project does this concern? Get that information from the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.

If you are working with a Team Managed Software project it is not possible to add fields to the card layout. The suggestion provided by the other responders works only for boards created for Company Managed Software projects or boards created from a saved filter.

Hello Holly,

It is not possible to flip a switch to change a project from Team Managed to Company Managed. You would have to create a new Company Managed project and move your issues from the Team Managed project to the Company Managed project. There can be loss of data in that process. For more information refer to:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/migrate-between-team-managed-and-company-managed-projects/

If you choose to go that route I recommend that you carefully test moving a few issues before moving all issues to see how the move can impact your issue data. It would be even better to set up a second Team Managed project for testing, setting its configuration and content to mimic the project you actually use.

The functionality is slightly different also between the two project types. For more information refer to:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/learn-the-basics-of-team-managed-projects/

You could create and save a filter that references the content of the Team Managed project, and then create an additional board based on that saved filter. However that board would not be listed under the Team Managed project. You would have to use the Shortcuts option to add a shortcut to it to "associate" the board with your Team Managed project.

Hello @Holly Clawson ,

Do you need to add a new label using this labels button on the boards? In my example, I have two tags: epic and bug

If not, please add a screenshot of what you need

Hello @Holly Clawson ,

You have to configure the card layout in your board. You can set up to 3 fields to be displayed on your Kanban board cards. In the image I attached, you can see that I currently have two fields: End Date and Category.
