We have standard software that goes to a large number of clients and use a call logging system that is not JIRA. We use JIRA to log faults.
I would like to record that a client is interested in a fault and in a couple of these cases there will be hundreds of clients and in many other cases there will be forty or so. Components seems quite clunky.
Multi-select list of "interested clients" on the fault? Or if they are Jira users, the watcher list?
Issue voting perhaps?

I would have said that, but voting doesn't tell me who voted (it is stored, so I can get to it with code, but not with plain Jira)

Is this multi select list the components list or is it a separate list that can be created?

Jira has many types of "custom field" available for your admins to add to projects (and you can add many of each type). One of the types is a multi-select.
