Hi all - my organisation has worked with a technology partner who used an On-Prem instance of Jira for the past couple of years, and we have recently set up our own Cloud instance. There is a lot of valuable information on the On-Prem instance which we need to keep access to.
What are the options here and what would be the best in order to allow us to keep access and usability of all of those historical projects, issues, etc.
Migrate that data from the on-prem to our cloud instance? Keep access to that on-prem instance but limit usage and just for archive purposes? Other?
I would really appreciate support on this.
Thanks and kind regards.
Disclaimer: I have not performed a migration from server to cloud but here are my thoughts FWIW.
hope this helps.
Hi Jack,
Thanks for the message.
I've learned more about the requirements of what we're trying to do this week:
We have a technology partner who currently administers the on-prem Jira instance.
We also have our own Cloud Jira instance.
We will not continue to do work in the on-prem Jira, we just need to be able to access that data for use as an archive. It has a lot of historical data that we need to be able to access.
So I believe moving this data to our Cloud instance is not the desired outcome, it is more about figuring out how do we store that backup of the on-prem Jira in way that we can still access and find issues, tickets etc.
If you have any thoughts on this please share.
Thanks,
Keagan
