In my backlog I have an issue titled "Please bar, do baz, kthx", for example.
If I try to search my backlog using the search field, I get nonsensical behavior:
* bar does find the issue, as expected
* baz does find the issue, as expected
* bar baz does not find the issue, unexpectedly
Tried typing `bar OR baz`, `bar AND baz`, and similar... Does not seem to work in the backlog search field.
If I use the upmost header bar search (keyboard shortcut /) I can type bar baz and it would show the issue, but the inconvenience is that there the results would be too many by default, covering all projects I have access to.
This question is about the Backlog search (keyboard shortcut f).
Hi @BARBANS Uldis , what do you mean by nonsensical? Can you share a screenshot of your search? I tested one of my projects and it works ok.

Nonsensical in the sense that it does not find the issue. I marked the nonsensical outcome with the word "unexpectedly".
Unfortunately can't share internal screenshots...

BTW I checked that in project's Issues view, the (basic) search field does work as expected, bar baz does find the issue in question, boils down to `text ~ "bar baz"` in JQL terms.
It's the Backlog search field in particular which behaves less sensically.
(A clarifying link coming later maybe. This community portal engine first hacked my html and didn't post, and then it started protesting my repeated attempts to _actually_ post... "You may have recently posted the same thing elsewhere on the community. Update your text, or wait before reposting." I haven't posted the same thing, not once, thanks to you, dear engine...)

Unsure why this would be the case. My suggestions:
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
In Issues, when I use the basic search field and type bar baz, the url looks like this. Whereas in Backlog I don't see a toggle to try JQL, and the urls don't seem to contain JQL - they look as pasted in the original question.

To be clear you are using the following search box...
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Yes that box. Doesn't look like it supports search by multiple keywords in titles.
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
No it does not support multiple words unless consecutive. But you initially indicated it would not find a single word either, such as bar. Is that the case? Assuming so it seems like something Atlassian is gonna have to look at because it works fine on my side.

No I didn't indicate such.
"bar does find the issue, as expected"

My apologies! 🙁
let me rewind...
The search bar in the backlog view will not find issues when including non-consecutive words.

Ok, well, is there a way to turn a community thread into a feature request in a few clicks? :)
It's such a random inconsistency, given that Issues view (where the search bar looks the same) does have richer functionality.

The support site is not even accepting reports directly, I enter my URL and it asks me to get help from my site admin. As a user I cannot report directly, so it seems. TwiXer it's gonna be.

Correct. Your technical contact for your site needs to be the one that contacts Atlassian support. However, I think you should be able to use the in-app Feedback link. Check if you can click on the "?" Icon in upper right and find/select "Give feedback about Jira". Good luck!
