BUG: Related items are not visible in issue pop-up view on board

Hello,

We noticed an issue in Jira when viewing tickets on the board.

When an issue is opened in the board pop-up view, the Related items section is not visible. However, if the same issue is opened in a separate tab, the Related items section appears and works as expected.

This creates inconsistency between the two issue views and makes it difficult to quickly access related items directly from the board.

Could you please check if this is a known issue or expected behavior?

Good day!

The Jira product team recently implemented an experiment on a few sites: The Subtasks and Linked Work Items are combined in a single panel. Could you please confirm if you have this unified panel or the older one where the subtasks and linked work items are shown in separate panels?

If you have the new unified panel, it could be a new bug. Please create a support ticket so the team can check this further and help you.

We are experiencing the same issue since last week.
If you open the details of the release on the righthand side or in a modal like below it is missing. When it is opened on a separate tabpage, the linked items are shown.

Thanks, everyone, for your time and input. The issue has now been resolved on our board. We didn’t change any settings on our side, so it seems it was fixed from the DEV side. Please check if those who experienced this issue see it as fixed now. Anyway, we really appreciate your attention and support.

We also have been seeing the same behaviour. "Linked work items" in the pop-up view of the item or in the preview on the right does not show anything. When opening the item in it's own tab, then we see all linked items.

Thank you for bringing this up. The behavior you described can sometimes occur depending on the Jira board view configuration or when certain panels are not enabled in the pop-up (issue detail) view. In some cases, the board pop-up only displays a limited set of fields, while the full issue view in a separate tab shows all sections, including Related items.

It would be helpful to check the board layout settings and issue view configuration to see if that section is supported in the pop-up panel. If everything appears correctly configured, it may also be worth verifying whether this is related to a specific plugin, customization, or a recent Jira update.

If possible, sharing your Jira version and any installed add-ons could help in identifying the exact cause. Hopefully this can be resolved so the board and full issue views remain consistent.

I could not find a public bug specifically for Related items missing in the board pop-up.

That said, Atlassian documents the board issue detail view and the full work item view as separate UI surfaces, and there have been past Jira Cloud issues where the board popup did not fully match the configured issue detail layout. So if Related items shows in the full issue view but not in the board pop-up, I would lean more toward a UI limitation / possible regression than expected behavior.

This sounds like a common point of confusion in Jira Cloud's "Issue View" architecture. The Issue Detail View (the pop-up on the board) is a "lite" version of the Full Issue View, and sometimes certain sections or apps do not render identically in both.
Here are a few steps to troubleshoot this:
Check Layout Configurations: Ensure the "Related items" section is not hidden in the sidebar layout. You can verify this by going to Project Settings > Issues > Layout (for Company-managed) or clicking "Configure" within an issue (for Team-managed).
Marketplace App Limitations: If "Related items" is provided by a third-party app (like Assets or Elements Connect), some apps have limitations in rendering within the board's modal view.
Monitor Known Bugs: There have been similar reports regarding UI inconsistencies in the new issue view. You can track similar issues or report this behavior on the Atlassian Documentation on Issue Views or check the Jira Cloud Bug Tracker for active regressions.

If this is a native Jira feature and it was working recently, try a "Hard Refresh" (Ctrl+F5 or Cmd+Shift+R) as the Board view sometimes caches older UI states.
