Steps to Reproduce:
Open a Jira board's Backlog view
While the page is still loading, click into the "Search backlog" field and begin typing
Observe that keyboard shortcuts are triggered by the keystrokes (e.g., typing "c" may open the create issue dialog)
Focus is pulled away from the search field
Expected Behavior:
While the search backlog field is focused, all keystrokes should be captured by the input field and focus should be maintained. Keyboard shortcuts should be suppressed when an input field has focus, regardless of page load state. The side panel should not steal focus while the page is loading.
Actual Behavior:
During page load, the Issue side panel steals focus from the focused input, causing keyboard shortcuts to be inadvertently triggered.
Impact:
Disrupts workflow when trying to quickly search the backlog — users have to wait for the page to fully load before searching, or re-focus the field and retype. User may inadvertently cause unwanted modifications to existing tasks.
Hello @Steven Berlan
Could you remove that parameter, reload the backlog and repeat the test?
If the focus is no longer stolen, that would strongly indicate that restoring the selected work item and its details panel is causing the issue.
Did you tried another Browser, Incognito Tab ?
Btw, that's Community Forum. If you are sure its a Bug, you should Report it to Support.atlassian.com
Best,

Hi @Steven Berlan
Thanks for the question.
I wasn't able to find an existing JAC bug that matches this specific behavior.
If you've reproduced this consistently in an incognito window with browser extensions disabled, I'd recommend raising a support ticket with Atlassian. They can verify whether this is a new bug and, if confirmed, create a public JAC issue.
If you do open a support case and Atlassian creates a new JAC ticket, please consider sharing the link here so others experiencing the same issue can vote for and watch it.
