Automation of new issue type

Matev Iliya

I created a new issue type named - Carryover.
Then I tried to make an automation, when a standard issue - task - is set in a status, Jira should make a new issue of type Carryover. But there is the problem:

As you can see the error message, but in the flow builder there is no error...

Hi @Matev Iliya -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

First thing: the "check for errors" in the rule editor can detect many problems, but it cannot detect complicated smart value expressions or things that go wrong when the rule runs.

Please post an image of your entire Create Work Item action.  That may reveal other causes of this symptom.

Until we see that, a few other things to check / try:

  • What is the type of your space: company-managed, team-managed, JPD, etc.?
  • Is the Carryover work item type configured in the space for work item that triggered the rule?
  • In some cases with custom work item types, the value "Same space" in the Create Work Item action cannot detect it correctly.  To solve that, use the exact space needed from the drop down list.  However...
  • What is the scope of your rule in the details at the top: single-space, multiple-spaces, or global?
    • For a single-space, try using the exact space selection noted above
    • For multiple-space and global scope rules, did you check if the Carryover type is configured for all those possible spaces?
    • And...for multiple-space and global rules, are *all of the spaces* the same type: company-managed, team-managed, etc.?  If not, you may need to modify the rule to correctly select the type.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Bill Sheboy thank you for the respond

- its a project managed space

- The new issue type is configured and added to the space workflow and hierarchy

- The scole was planned to be tested in one space and later rolled out into all other project spaces.
