Hello all,

We have noticed that manual checking of checklist items in Definition of Ready and Definition of Done is becoming a time-consuming task. We would like to automate this process in order to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Our goal is to implement a script that will automatically check all checklist items in Definition of Ready when a User Story is moved to In Progress and all checklist items in Definition of Done when a User Story is moved to Done. We do not want to use any additional plugins, just scripts.

We were told that this is not possible with just scripts but we believe that with the help of the JIRA Atlassian community, we can find a solution. We would appreciate any assistance or guidance in achieving this goal. Thank you in advance for your time and support.

Hi @Alexander Kavinsky

Checklists are not a native Jira feature. From the screenshot, it looks like you're using our Checklist for Jira on Server or DC. This is to say that it's not possible to use checklists at all without a plugin.

If I can share my opinion, automating checklist interactions defeats the purpose of a checklist - they are intended to be a tool to help team members track the progress of smaller tasks within an issue. If they don't need to interact with the checklist to track that something is done, why use a checklist in the first place?

If you just want to list things that need to be done, you can put them in the issue description, right?

Having said that, I do not have any tricks up my sleeve to help you achieve what you want. If you haven't tried it yet, you might want to reach out to our support team to learn more about how Checklist information is stored and how it can be interacted with, maybe this will help.

Cheers!

I apologize, I may have been mistaken. It seems that I was working with older versions of JIRA and was unsure if the checklist feature was native in more recent releases.
As a Scrum Master, I am not familiar with the specific tools and plugins that our JIRA administrators have chosen to utilize.

I regret to say that the reason for using checklists is to meet the demands of our auditors. By automating the process, I aim to save time for the development team, who should not be bogged down by bureaucratic tasks.

I'll check HeroCoders, thank you!
