Automation Rule For Releases - Will Not Publish

Hey Atlassian Community!

I am trying to create an automation rule that will play when I transition a release from unreleased to released. The problem is our team marks issues as "to release" when they are done and they still need to be synced in our system. But Jira (rightfully so) considered those issues unresolved and when I go to push an unreleased release to complete I get that pop up regarding those unresolved issues. I would like to be able to push the unreleased release to complete and have all those issues transition to the "fixed" status.   

I thought it was a simple rule creation but I am receiving an error message on the first automation component and I am not sure what to do. The error doesn't indicate what I am doing wrong. The dev tool error message isn't very helpful either.

Is it because I need to add the "Version name filter" syntax under the "More Options" drop down? If so, that is a bit beyond me. Any help on this is appreciated!

Hi @Caitlin Gourley -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

For a version trigger (or a sprint one) which acts on the issues, a branch is needed.

For example:

• trigger: version released
• branch: on issues fixed in version
  • action: transition
